Andersen Island Lodge offers ocean charters and stream fishing guiding through Northern Sun Charters. US Coast Guard Licensed Captain.
We offer 1/2 day and full day fishing charters for halibut, rockfish, lingcod, silver and winter king salmon, and salmon sharks. We also offer guided stream fishing.
As you pursue these hard fishing and delicious eating fish, you will quite often be entertained by pods of porpoises, sea lions, seals, sea otters by the dozens, and the occasional humpback and killer whale. The scenery in Prince William Sound is spectacular as well, leaving you breathless at every new vista.
Based out of Cordova, Alaska and at Andersen Island Lodge in Sheep Bay ( 22 miles NW of Cordova), our fully enclosed 26’ charter boat allows ample angling room for up to four fishers, with up to 6 persons on board.
The waters near Cordova are generally calm with little or no ocean swells due to the protection of numerous large islands between Cordova and Prince William Sound. No gut wrenching hours long trips through rough seas…most fishing is done within 30-minute boat ride from town or the lodge.
The Fishing? Well, pretty darn good. Our 2011 season saw a new lodge record 84”-300 lb+ halibut caught and released, easily beating our previous record 205 lb halibut. Numerous halibut were caught in the 25-100# range. Salmon Sharks, after disappearing for the last few years, finally reappeared, though not up to historical numbers. Yellow eye rockfish, cod, and salmon fishing was excellent as well, with the best silver salmon run in ten years.
Peak seasons for fishing varies, with halibut starting in early June -peaking in mid July, salmon beginning in early July running through mid-September, salmon sharks starting in early July-peaking in early August, and rockfish/cod all summer long.
